NEWS & INFO

BEEF & DAIRY CATTLE
For those clients that have been waiting for the past few years to purchase beef and dairy cattle from the United States, on May 22, 2007, the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) formally classified the United States as a controlled risk country for bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE).  We are seeing many of our trading partners beginning to allow the importation of cattle and other ruminant animals from the United States.
There continues to be a great demand for dairy cattle and a very short supply of dairy heifers in the United States.  The milk futures still indicate high milk prices for the rest of 2007 which will certainly keep prices for pregnant dairy heifers at record levels.

BREEDING SWINE
As the world continues to see higher feed costs due of the demand for corn for ethanol production it is more important than ever to consider US swine genetics that have long been known for growth, performance and feed efficiency.  Within the US system, we still target to market slaughter pigs to 250-270 lbs (113-123 kgs) in 150-170 day range.  If your genetic program needs  jump start for quicker days to market, please let us know.
We continue to supply swine genetics to our international clients with the best possible maternal and terminal traits.  We have many clients looking at the swine genetics we can supply that excel in meat quality traits such as intramuscular fat (IMF).  If you would like for our professionals to review your breeding program, please feel free to contact us or visit the links on our swine pages for more information.
